Upon arrival to the Imperial City of Cusco, centre of the Incan Empire referred to as "the navel of the World", we will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel to rest and acclimatize to the altitude of 3200m (oxygen supplemented rooms are available upon request). A Junior Suite awaits you at the World renowned Orient Express Monasterio Cusco located in the historical centre.
Together with one of our qualified bilingual guides explore the streets of Cusco taking in 500 year old Spanish architecture constructed upon ancient Incan foundations whilst learning about the indigenous Quechua cultures, the Spanish conquistadores and life today for the local people. After lunch, in a private vehicle, drive into the surrounding mountains to visit the four nearby Incan ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Return to the luxury of the Monasterio at sunset to freshen up for a fine dining three course dinner served in the award winning Illariy Restaurant.
From Cusco set out in your private vehicle through stunning Andean scenery to the Sacred Valley of the Incas with your guide. First stop is Awana Kancha Alpacas were you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with varieties of Peruvian Camelid. Meet local indigenous community members and view the processes passed down through the generations involved in their hand woven textile making. Descending to the Sacred Valley arrive to the town of Pisac surrounded by imposing Inca fortresses and terraces. Visit the ruins and then wander through the colourful Pisac artesan markets, one of the best in South America. Following the Sacred River Vilcanota meander your way through the valley to El Huacatay Restaurant for an eight course Nova Andina culinary experience before arriving to you your junior suite at the Hotel Rio Sagrado in Urubamba.
After breakfast, in private vehicle with your guide, embark on a day to meet and mingle with the locals. Explore the ancient Incan fortress of Ollantaytambo and the village at its base. BBQ or Adobe Wood-oven lunch at our operations base Kutimunki Wasi before a cultural visit to the community of Chichubamba where you will enter their homes and learn about their way of life first hand from local community members.
